apperception is a perception that is made consciously based on a previous experience or worldview. entering into an already existing interpretive context, it becomes a prism – an introspective or reflective perception by the mind of its own inner states. in this sense, apperception is not simply a mechanism of seeing, but a deliberate act of consciousness that gives the artwork its multilayeredness and interrelation with the viewer.
in my research of form and colour, i strive to strip visual expression down to its most basic essence. each of the canvases in this exhibition is the result of a process of reduction, in which i seek a balance between structure and emotion, between rational construction and an intuitive sense of space.
i work with geometry not as an end in itself, but as a means to build visual rhythms, tensions and balance. the square as a format is a major motif in my work and is for me a field of infinite possibilities where line and colour interact, creating a dialogue between the inner and the outer, between stability and variability.
my colour palette is reduced to a few basic colours that enter into a consciously constructed dialogue with each other. black as absolute and limit, white as potential and silence, yellow as energy and spirituality. each work aims not just to be seen, but to provoke a moment of contemplation, of slowing down, of becoming aware of space and the very presence of the viewer. it is my hope that these works evoke not only visual delight, but also an inner dialogue with the ideas they convey. of order, of materiality and spirituality, of absence and presence, of limit and infinity.
thank you for being here and i invite you to discover your own meanings. and where our apperceptions meet.
